I’ve had a few weeks break from blogging but have carried on with taking photos around the house and when I’ve been out on walks and other daily life activities. These images were mostly taken back in April 2020 during the high of social distancing measures. During the month, in my free time on the weekend, there was a lot of home cooking, weekend walks grocery shopping.

As many of us spend so much of our time at home these days due to COVID-19, cooking and baking has taken off! I’ve been enjoying researching recipes and watching YouTube videos of chefs showing people how to many simple meals at home. I’m spending much of my non-work time either grocery shopping or at learning to cook a new dish or two on the weekend and also some photo editing my backlog of photos. To try to squeeze in some actual physical activity since gyms have been closed, I’ve tried to walk to do my grocery shopping or do some in-home yoga and exercises. I’m not a particularly good cook but I have enjoyed trying a range of more time consuming dishes like making dumplings and lasagne. On my walks, I have also tried to support local cafes by buying takeaway coffee and food.

Australia went further and further into lock-down mode throughout the month of March 2020. I was inspired by other photographers I followed who shared their ideas what they were going to do during this lockdown period to keep up with their photography, business and creativity. The COVID-19 pandemic is definitely one for the history books. Like many photographers out there, I thought doing a mini documentary project to capture daily life during this historic period of time would be interesting and insightful. Something I could look back upon and tell the story of what it felt like living during a pandemic through my own eyes.

I’m writing this in the second week of the new year. The busy end of year rush in December meant I didn’t get a chance to sit down and reflect on my 2018 year of photography. Better late than never! As usual I’ve set myself a variety of goals for the new year and several of them of course include photography, blogging and travelling. Before we dig into my goals for 2019, lets have a look at how I went in 2018.

As 2017 comes to an end, I think about what I achieved, what didn’t quite work out and what I’m looking forward to for 2018. The year has gone by very quickly. There were plenty of significant work events and a number of personal changes to my life. All in all, 2017 has been an interesting one. I’ve spent the last few weeks reflecting on my year and coming up with some goals for 2018. But before we get into that, lets see how 2017 went based on what I set out to do.
