Glaciers, ice-capped mountains and Svartifoss, Iceland

Vatnajökull Glacier

Iceland’s Ring Road (Route 1) encircles the entire island. I found the south east drive to be one of the most scenic drives in Iceland. the landscape is ever changing and grand. From green mountains to giant glacier capped mountains. Vatnajokull is the largest glacier in Iceland. No matter where we were in the area, we would always be driving past the glacier and it made for some pretty awesome photo pitstops. We made our way to Skaftafell National Park on a pretty rainy day. But that didn’t stop us from making the long walk to Svartifoss waterfall. The hike/walk was fairly easy to the waterfall. It reminded me a little bit of my trip to Canada during autumn all those years ago, the beautiful yellow and orange coloured foliage.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Janice
