Kirkjufell, Iceland’s most photographed mountain

HDR of Kirkjufell Mountain

If you have been to Iceland or have been contemplating going to Iceland, you have probably come across one of Iceland’s most iconic mountains. Kirkjufell, the 463m mountain has very well photographed by thousands of photographers. You have no doubt seen much better shots than what I’ll be sharing below. Popularised in part by Game of Thrones. But mostly because it’s a very photogenic mountain, especially when photographed at certain times of the day.

Unfortunately for us, by the time we arrived at Kirkjufell, the weather had changed from the sunny blue skies, to cloudy and rainy. Even so, I had a great time doing some long exposure waterfall photography. I shot a heap of photos at this location and have pick 5 to share. Given the poor weather conditions, I decided to try my hand at HDR and post-processed the shots using Aurora HDR. While I was dissapointed with the lack of colours in the sky, I think the photo above turned out ok. The photo below was a non-HDR shot, and you can see how cloudy the sky was when we were there.

Since there wasn’t much colour in the sky, I actually quite like the Kirkjufell in black and white.

Thanks for stopping by today.
