Open House Perth 2017, Part I

I had a great time exploring Perth and the surrounding suburbs last year as part of Open House, naturally I was excited to see what 2017 Open House had to offer. I made sure to keep my weekend free in advance. There were definitely some really cool places were visited, in particulate the business and corporate buildings. I thought the residential open house location were a bit limited and lack lustre this year in contrast to last.

On Saturday (day 1), we started our day with a tour of Central Park. We wanted to do the rooftop tour but unfortunately it was booked out due to a very limited number of spots. We made sure to be early for next day to put our names down for the rooftop tour. After Central Park we headed over to QV1, we had a tour of an empty floor, a newly renovated office floor and the QV1 carpark rooftop garden and leisure area. We also checked out a couple of places at Brookfield towers. The newly renovated floor where Gilbert + Tobin law firm was located was pretty awesome, unfortunately photography of the actual office weren’t allowed, only the views out of the window, and those views were pretty darn good.

We grabbed lunch at La Veen at King Street and I was craving some icey Tonicspresso given how hot the day was. The avocado, poach eggs, smoked salmon potato stack didn’t disappoint either.

After our late lunch, we drove out of the city to check out a couple of residential buildings, which were a bit uneventful. One was a new inner city apartment block, the other was a residential garden (we were unfortunately not allowed in the house).

The next two blog posts focuses on Sunday’s Open House, with the highlight being Alex Hotel in Northbridge. Thanks for stopping by today.

J.
