2-Night staycation at COMO Treasury, Perth

This blog post is a bit different to my previous ones. Like many people around the around, 2020 was a year of very little travel. We were fortunate in Western Australia to relatively low levels of COVID-19 cases and life for the second half of 2020 was relatively normal. We did a number of local WA trips and even did a staycation at COMO Treasury in Perth City as a special celebration. At the time it was a 2-night special deal offered by COMO Treasury which included daily breakfast, champagne, valet parking and a $100 voucher to use at one of the many restaurants in the building.

After much deliberation, we decided to take up the deal and treat ourselves since it had been a fairly busy work year for both of us. It is probably one of the most luxurious hotels we’ve stayed at so far and it definitely met expectations. It’s a contemporary hotel in the historic heart of Perth, occupying the State Buildings. The interior finishes are modern, lowkey and beautiful. We loved the little touches they gave to everything (e.g. bed turndown) and the high quality soaps, coffee, bathsalts etc. It certainly added to the luxurious feel that COMO Treasury was going for.

We also checked out hotel library, gym and pool. The pool was a long lap pool with giant glass windows that gave you some nice views of the city itself. The Gym also had a bit of a view as you ran on the treadmill. The check in and out process is very personalised. it doesn’t even look or feel like a hotel lobby. Instead it’s a lounge room where the concierge comes to your couch to complete check in or check out, and will also offer you a drink for the process.

During the 2 nights we stayed at the hotel, we had dinner at Furaibo for a more casual feed. The food was izakaya style Japanese food. Some were good, some were on the more average side of things. Still it was a lovely night where we can just enjoy some food and chat over some food.

The complimentary breakfast as part of the hotel package was at POST. It was quite the event having breakfast there. They start you off with a house-made fruit juice, followed by offering you the daily fruit selection and pastry selection. That’s just the start. After that you will after you some coffees and let you peruse the breakfast menu. The menu had the standard breakfast items but done well.

For our second night, we met up with some friends for drinks in the city before dinner. Then we used our $100 voucher at POST their 6 course meal for dinner. The service was pretty good. Most of the courses were enjoyed, but surprisingly we found the steak underwhelming. I had the fish for my main and quite enjoyed it.

Overall, I can’t fault COMO Treasury. It lives up to it’s reputation and is in a class of its own in Perth. The staff were friendly and professional, but it still felt personal. The overall staycation experience was lovely as well. Exploring the city as a local but also just enjoying the stay itself. Often times when I am “on holidays” we’re always on the go. This staycation allowed us to just relax and enjoy the amenities of the hotel and the city.

Thanks for stopping by today.

J.
