A day in Cambridge, England

Cambridge

After spending 2 weeks driving around and exploring Iceland, it was time to head back into civilisation. I didn’t capture many photos on our last day in Iceland before we flew out. We spent the day slowly driving back to Reykjavík. We checked out a couple of lesser known locations in the morning and spent the afternoon at the Blue Lagoon. Unfortunately for us, the hot water system broke down and the lines to check into the lagoon was massive. We did eventually make it in but the water was tepid in certain areas of the lagoon. I can see the appeal of the lagoon. The blue colour was very cool. But it was probably one of the most touristy activities in Iceland. We got up very early in the morning to make it for our morning flight back to London. We picked up our rental car at Heathrow airport, drove up to Cambridge and stayed the night.

We started our day in Cambridge with breakfast at Bill’s. After a hot breakfast we spent the day exploring the streets of Cambridge. Cambridge is known as a university city, where the world famous University of Cambridge is located. The university was founded back in 1209. As you can expect, the heart of Cambridge is filled with very old gothic style buildings. The various colleges of Cambridge as scattered across the city. The city is old and picturesque. In addition I have a love architecture photography. So I had a great time exploring the city on foot and photographing my day.

Cambridge, England

We walked through the various shopping streets, peaked into university college grounds and checked out a local museum. When we wanted a break from all the walking, we stop by the famous Fitzbillies for some afternoon tea, scones and a Chelsea Bun.

That finished my photo essay on A Day in Cambridge. Thanks for stopping by today.
