The Quenda Walking Trail, Paruna Sanctuary

Paruna Sanctuary is located in the Avon Valley, north east of Perth. The sanctuary is know for it’s beautiful woodlands, wildlife and flowers. Given we were doing the walking trail during Autumn, there wasn’t much to see in the form of wild flowers and water falls unfortunately. I would imagine Spring would be a great time to visit. There are three well maintained walking trails within the sanctuary, which are only open between May to November. The number of visitors per day is restricted and it’s important to make a booking in advance. The $5 per person entry fee also helps with conservation.

Easter Long Weekend in Denmark, Western Australia, Part II

The Denmark Easter Markets were on during our trip to Denmark. That was the busiest I seen Denmark town! Cars were piling in from all directions. We spent a couple of hours at the market by the river before heading to lunch at The Lake House. The Lake House was a beautiful winery with a lake (hence the name). We spent the whole afternoon enjoying a bottle of riesling and some platters of cheese, meats and dips. It was one of the best afternoons of the whole road trip!

On our last full day in Denmark we decided to drive to Walpole’s Valley of the Giants tree top walk and the Tingle Forrest walk. The last time we were in Denmark we did the same thing. I always enjoy a walk through nature. We decided to head to Walpole straight after breakfast, and thankfully we did, when we exited the Valley of the Giants around 11am, there were packs of tourist arriving as we were leaving.

After our Valley of the Giants walk, we decided to continue our drive towards Walpole town. We did a short walk along the Bibbulmun track that was next to the town before driving back to Denmark to make our lunch at Rickety Gate Winery.

Easter Long Weekend in Denmark, Western Australia, Part I

The Easter long weekend feels like a months and months ago, yet it was only a few weeks ago. For the first time, I actually did what many West Aussies typically do on a long weekend, head down south. My four-day trip down to Denmark, WA was the quintessential girls trip. We stayed at a homely bed and breakfast close to Denmark town. Picnic-ed, wined and dined. Beached. Hiked. Hung out.

Meet and Greet with Perth’s Fujifilm X Shooters

A few of us from Perth who connected on the Fujifilm X Australia Photographers Facebook community decided to have our first meet and greet. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon to be walking around Perth. As none of us had met before, we decided to meet at the most iconic sculpture at Elizabeth Quay. We spent a bit of time introducing ourselves, talking about how we got into photography and more specifically how we fell in love with the Fujifilm X series of cameras. It was a great to get to meet and get to know strangers who share a passion for photography as a hobby. A bit thank you to the very passionate and enthusiast Gustavo for organising a lovely afternoon meet up.

Walking along Darling Harbour waterfront

After we spending a bit of time at the markets, we continued on foot towards Darling Harbour. Darling Harbour is yet another well known must-see sight for any Sydney first timers. It’s located next to the city centre. The waterfront has lots of nearby attractions. We visited The Star Casino and walked along the harbour front until Kings Wharf. Given we were there close to midday, it wasn’t the best time to be taking photos. I did like a few of the photos I took of the yet-to-open Sydney Convention Centre in black and white. I have a tendency to enjoy taking architectural/building photos in black and white. There is just something about black and white that brings out the shapes and patterns of the buildings.
