Flight Diary: Flying on Qantas Airbus A330 Business Class (Perth – Sydney)

Last year, in August 2023 we made the big move from Perth, Australia to Houston, USA.

It was a long journey hopping across multiple time zones and taking three medium-to-long haul flights to get to the literal opposite side of the world.

Around 21 hours of flight time and 5.5 hours of airport layovers.

In a previous blog post, I shared my flight experience in United Airline’s Polaris business class from Sydney to Las Angeles.

Today, I want to dive into our bittersweet moment of leaving our hometown of Perth, albeit temporarily, to have a once in a lifetime experience of living and working in another country.

We were fortunate to be flying in business class on my husband’s company dime for the all segments of our journey to the USA.

We flew in the Qantas Airbus A330 business class cabin for our 4 hour flight from Perth to Sydney.

Lounge Review: Inside Air New Zealand International Lounge, Sydney

There are two Star Alliance business class lounges at Sydney Airport—Air New Zealand International Lounge and Singapore Airline SilverKris Lounge.

Last year, when we flew United Polaris business class from Sydney to Las Angeles for our move to the USA, we got the chance to check out both business class lounges.

Flight Diary: Flying on United Airlines Boeing 787 Polaris Business Class (Sydney – Los Angeles)

A year ago in August 2023, we made the big move from Perth, Australia to Houston, USA.

It was quite the journey of taking three medium to long flights and crossing multiple time zones to get to the literal opposite side of the world.

Around 21 hours of flight time and 5.5 hours of airport layovers.

We were leaving cold and rainy wintery Perth and landing in hot and humid Texas. Apparently it was Houston’s “worse summer”. I couldn’t have agreed more, with 38 to 42 degrees celcius temperatures for a couple of months.

We were lucky to fly in business class for the all segments of the flight.

The United Airline Polaris Business class was the international segment and the longest of the three flights. Naturally that was also the flight that had the most to experience and share.

Flight Diary: Qantas Airbus A330 Business Class (Sydney to Perth)

The direct flights from Melbourne to Perth were pretty expensive back in June 2022. We played around a with different flight times and stop-over combinations to either find a flight on points or a flight at a cheaper price.

Alas, we managed to find 2 Qantas Classic Rewards points seat to fly back to Perth from Melbourne via a brief transit Sydney. Given the price of tickets, we thought it was a good use of 20,300 Qantas frequent flyer points to fly economy class back to Perth (economy ticket prices at the time were pretty close to $800+).
