Exploring Sydney’s Martin Place

Martin Place in Sydney is the heart of the central business district in Sydney. It’s surrounded by landmarks such as General Post Office at 1 Martin Place, the Reserve Bank of Australia and museum, as well as other luxury brand stores. We started our day with breakfast at Reuben Hills in Surry Hills. It was one of my favourite places for breakfast. I settled on the Huevos Divorciados (as recommended by staff as one of the most popular dishes). It consisted of a soft fried egg on top of red and green salsa, charro beans, smoked tetilla on a tostada. I forwent my usual espresso coffee and settle for a filter coffee instead.

We made our way via the train to Martin Place. Given it was mid morning, there weren’t a lot of office works in the square. We decided to check out the money museum at the Reserve Bank of Australia. It was actually a pretty interesting exhibit. It went through the history of the Australian currency and where it is today. I was impressed that Australia actually created the technology to print polymer banknotes.

The GPO has been converted in a high end retail and dining outlet. It’s a world heritage building, keeping the exterior facade and a modern interior.

Thanks for stopping by today.

J.
