Refashion Project Photoshoot

It’s been a while since I last shared a blog post. I recently came back from a month away in the UK/Iceland and have kept busy since coming back to Perth. I have a massive backlog of photos from my travels this year which I will eventually get through and share. But in the mean time I just wanted to share the shoot I did recently.

I spent a lovely Sunday morning in Perth a couple of weekends ago shooting for my friend’s very cool side hustle the Re-fashion Project. It’s a really awesome project where she upcycles clothing. Basically buying op-shop items or existing items she no longer uses and refashions them into something modern and stylish. All hand sewn. I had a fun time shooting the three lovely models. All the shots were taken with the Fujifilm XT10 and Fujinon 35mm f1.4 lens, and post-processed in Lightroom.

Aurora Borealis by Mývatn Lake, Iceland

I’m currently road tripping around Iceland with some friends. The temperature is around 6 degrees celcius outside while I’m sitting comfortably in my hotel room, at a temperate temperature of 25 degrees. I don’t normally post anything on my blog while travelling around (generally I’m too busy travelling or resting) but I’m still so excited from spending a couple of hours watching the Aurora Borealis just at the back of our hotel last night that I have to share a couple of my favourite shots.

Eventhough it doesn’t look as green as this in real life (some camera magic) you can certainly see the lights dancing away in the night sky. We’re only halfway through our 2 week Iceland roadtrip and I’m grateful to have seen the Lights already, hopefully with more to come.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Exploring Wanneroo Pines, Joondalup

Wanneroo Pines has been on my list of photography spots in Perth for a little while. I’ve seen photos from portrait and engagement sessions and was keen to check it out. A couple of weekends ago, a group of friends and I headed to Joondalup to do an Escape Room challenge and given I was in the area I took the opportunity to check it out. It turned out that Wanneroo Pines was right next to Lake Joondalup. There was a lovely 16km lake circuit for walkers and cyclist that we didn’t have time to do as the weather was starting to turn. Just as we got back to the car it had started raining.

Wonders of the World LEGO Exhibition

As part of my birthday celebrations, we spent a couple of hours exploring the Wonders of the World LEGO Exhibition at Perth Convention Centre. It was my first time attending a LEGO exhibit and I had a great time learning about how these intricate constructions of many famous monuments of the world were built by the Brickman masters and also a bit of the history of each of the wonder. It was a great afternoon indoor activity given the stormy weather hitting Perth that day. From royal jewels to the Empire State building. It was just fascinating to see how the expert builders used various brick hapes and sizes to creatively build these well known icons.

Brookfield Winter Lights Festival 2017

The cover shot is probably my favourite photo taken at this year’s Brookfield Winter Lights Festival in Perth. It lent itself to black and white really well. I spent a couple of hours one Saturday night exploring the various light displays in the Brookfield area of the Terrace.

2017 was the 5th year that Brookfield was transformed into a playground for light. There were colourful light projections on the heritage buildings along St Georges Terrace, there was an interactive avatar projected onto one of the heritage buildings. It tracked and mimicked the movement of a person in the interactive zone. There was an interactive light installation where the giant light sticks would change colour depending on the position of the rod. I think the Fuji X-T10 and the 35mm F/1.4 did a great job capturing the low light and colourful lighting situations.
