The Lions Lookout Walk Trail is a 4 kilometre loop trail give you an expansive view over the Perth city and Bickley Reservoir. While the walk is short, the difficulty lies in the steep loose descents and uphill climbs. We found the trail wasn’t obviously sign posted, which meant we took the wrong turn on a couple of occasions. As we did the walk in late autumn, the leaves and trees were bare. In spring there would be plenty of wildflowers along the trail.
Kings Park has got to be Perth’s most popular tourist attraction. It is one of the largest inner city parks in the world, attracting millions of people each year. It showcases a large collection of flora, a place for picnics, barbeques and outdoor events. Whether you visit during the day or night, you’ll also be treated to an awesome view of Perth City and the Swan River. There’s also the Federation Walkway for visitors to walk over the tree tops in Kings Park. The War Memorial is can seen from afar when looking onto Kings Park. But it’s even more impressive up close. Fortunately it was the perfect autumn day to be photographing in Kings Park that afternoon. It wasn’t overly sunny which meant even colours. Photographically, I tried to restrict the number of photos I was taking that day. I decided to give my Fujinon 35mm f1.4 lens some love (a lens I don’t often take out, favouring the 27mm f2.8 pancake lens). I also decided to post-process my photos in Lightroom CC to take on a more muted tones look, reminiscent of the filmic look. I also experimented with ColorEfex Pro 4 for the first time (the first image of this post).

Paruna Sanctuary is located in the Avon Valley, north east of Perth. The sanctuary is know for it’s beautiful woodlands, wildlife and flowers. Given we were doing the walking trail during Autumn, there wasn’t much to see in the form of wild flowers and water falls unfortunately. I would imagine Spring would be a great time to visit. There are three well maintained walking trails within the sanctuary, which are only open between May to November. The number of visitors per day is restricted and it’s important to make a booking in advance. The $5 per person entry fee also helps with conservation.
The Denmark Easter Markets were on during our trip to Denmark. That was the busiest I seen Denmark town! Cars were piling in from all directions. We spent a couple of hours at the market by the river before heading to lunch at The Lake House. The Lake House was a beautiful winery with a lake (hence the name). We spent the whole afternoon enjoying a bottle of riesling and some platters of cheese, meats and dips. It was one of the best afternoons of the whole road trip!
On our last full day in Denmark we decided to drive to Walpole’s Valley of the Giants tree top walk and the Tingle Forrest walk. The last time we were in Denmark we did the same thing. I always enjoy a walk through nature. We decided to head to Walpole straight after breakfast, and thankfully we did, when we exited the Valley of the Giants around 11am, there were packs of tourist arriving as we were leaving.
After our Valley of the Giants walk, we decided to continue our drive towards Walpole town. We did a short walk along the Bibbulmun track that was next to the town before driving back to Denmark to make our lunch at Rickety Gate Winery.
