Lounge Review: Inside Qantas Domestic Business Lounge, Perth

In Australia, Qantas being the main national carrier, has one of the most extensive airport lounge networks in Australia. This post is a bit different to my normal photography writing and content I normally share on here. This experiential review of the Qantas Domestic Business Lounge in Perth falls more in the travel and travel experiences wheelhouse. I will probably start to share more of these type of posts now that the travelling has opened up more. This is by no means a comprehensive lounge review as there are plenty of travel hack and lounge blogs out there whose primary purpose is on that topic. My approach like most of my reviews are based around my thoughts, experiences and sharing my photography along the way.

Lounge Overview

I’ve been in the Qantas Domestic Business Lounge in Perth a few times over the years. And each time it’s always an enjoyable experience.

In June I went on a short but impromptu 4-day trip to Melbourne to visit friends and family.

We were fortunate to be able to access the Qantas Domestic Business Lounge in Perth to rest and relax before jumping onto the plane for a 4 hour evening flight across the Nullarbor.

We headed into the airport around 2 hours before our flights as we were concerned by the potential airport chaos that we might face. Thankfully it was all very quick and calm checking in and going through security.

We were quick to get into the lounge after our security check.

The lounge is located in Qantas Terminal (T4). It opened back in 2015 so it’s a relatively new and the design is quite modern. There was plenty of spaces to lounge and sit for individual travellers as well as groups.

It was late afternoon when we got into the lounge and it was bustling with people. It looked like a mix of both business and leisure travellers.

Food and Beverages

We eventually found a seat near the bar area and settled in with a cheeky afternoon G&T.

There are three main stations for your food and drinks.

There is a barista-manned coffee station which was closed since it was late in the afternoon. Following on from the coffee station is the main food service area where you have a pizza station and a buffet area.

For this particular afternoon there was freshly baked pepperoni pizza coming out of the oven (yummy!), soup, salads, a lovely spread of ingredients to make your sandwich and more.

The drinks bar (close to where we sat), also had a barista around should you be interested in a late afternoon coffee or tea. A wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were also on offer.

A decent selection of local wines, Australia sparkling, spirits, beers, ciders, juices and softdrinks.

Lounge Amenities

The bathrooms were modern and clean. WiFi was free and available to use by patrons of the lounge. TV screens were scattered throughout the lounge showing various channels as well as flight departure information. The staff were definitely busy, but still remained friendly and service was relatively quick. Staff topped up and cleared the tables quite quickly as well.

Resting in the lounge and filling up on food and drinks before a 4 hour flight was a great way to spend that waiting time in the airport.

Making Travel Planning Easier (Free Template in Notion)

One of our goals of moving to the US from Australia to take advantage of the opportunity to travel and explore more of the US. That means being organised and intentional about locking in travel dates ahead of time so the trips actually happens.

There is a lot to juggling when travel planning—itinerary, accommodation, flight options, things to do, recommended food and drink places etc.

It’s just not possible to track all of that in my head!

I’m a big Notion fan and I use that to plan and track all our trips. I also it for other things like meal planning, tracking my tasks and projects, and keeping track of my camera gear etc.

Notion is free to use, hyper customisable and saves you time by giving you the ability to templatise things you do often.

So you’re not reinventing the wheel each time you want to use Notion to plan a new trip.
