West Fjords’ Dynjandi Waterfall, Iceland

For the first time during our roadtrip, we were based at the same accommodation for two nights straight. It was a nice change to not be packing and unpacking daily. The thing with the West Fjords in Iceland is that quite a few of the sights that we wanted to visit were too far apart. This meant we only aimed to check out one thing this day, which was Dynjandi waterfall. As we had an early night the previous night, my friend and I woke up a bit earlier to walk aroudn the small town we were staying in. He flew his drone around while I explored the town on foot and took a few photos. The church above was a centre piece for the town. The illustrated map of Iceland on the wall was a pretty cool feature of the town.

This is one of the few places I actually took a photo of our breakfast offerings. The photo below shows a pretty typical spread of food we often have at our hotels for breakfast before we head out for the day. I was glad that we were always leaving on a very full stomach.

We stopped a few times along the way to Dynjandi waterfall as it was quite a long drive and we had plenty of time to kill. We did a couple of group shots and long exposure photography for fun, while also enjoying the quietness of the area.

By this stage of our trip, we have visited a lot of waterfalls. Dynjandi is definitely up there as one of my favourite. I liked that there were so many mini waterfalls leading up to the main waterfall at the top. I like the cascading nature of the falls. It’s hard to tell how large the falls actually is without anyone in the shot. It was so impressive up close.

We slowly made our way back to our accommodation, with plenty of time left in the afternoon to chill out before dinner. We decided to head to the small hotel cafe/bar to test some Nordic and Icelandic spirits and beer. No photo evidence at this point of the day 🙂 Thanks for stopping by today.
