Why Bloggers and Photographers should start an email newsletter—I’m starting one and here’s why

I started this photography and travel blog 8 years ago after a trip to New Zealand.

The blogging world was a different beast back then. It was the golden age of blogs. People went to the internet to look for educational, inspirational and entertaining content from reputable blogs and websites.

Readers were looking for high quality content to help them get better at photography, plan more trips or figure out top rated activities to do on their holidays.

in 2025, things has completely changed.

These days, there is an overwhelming amount of free information at our finger tips and from endless sources.

I mentioned in my 2024 year in review post that I’m planning to start a newsletter in 2025 to complement the Travelling Lens blog.

Today, I want to dive into this thought process more

2024 Year in Review and Looking Towards 2025

Fortworth Stock Yards, Texas.
Fortworth Stock Yards, Texas.

Happy new year!

It’s 2 weeks into 2025 and I’ve finally completed my year in review post for 2024.

2024 was a huge year of travel for us.

Mostly they were road trips across Canada and the USA.

I’ve easily added 2 terabytes of travel photos to my backlog in Adobe Lightroom.

By January or February 2024, we finally felt settled into a routine and rhythm for life in the USA. That gave us the time and energy to focus more time towards organising more ambitious trips and travel planning compared to the previous year.

It was not all smooth sailing in though…

Lounge Review: Inside Amex Centurion Lounge Las Vegas Airport

Las Vegas airport Amex Centurion Lounge, entrance.

In 2021, the Las Vegas airport Amex Centurion Lounge was refreshed and reopened to the public.

We were in Las Vegas back in August 2024, but didn’t get a chance to visit the lounge when waiting for our flight back to Houston as the wait list for the lounge was 20+ people long.

In November, we were back at Las Vegas airport after a 11 day trip driving through Utah, Arizona and Nevada.

This time it was a Monday and the airport (and lounge) was much quieter! No waitlist to get into the lounge.

We had about 30 minutes at the Las Vegas Amex Centurion Lounge before it was time to head to our gate to catch our flight.

Turn Your Fujifilm Instax prints into a Personalised Photo Art For your Wall

Fujifilm Instax Photo Frame

Do you have a bunch of Fujifilm Instax or Polaroid film prints laying around the house (or stowed away in a box)… never to be seen again?

The best way to gain joy from our photos and bring back great memories is to see these photos frequently. That means making it as visible as possible.

So here’s a fun way to showcase those Instax you don’t know what to do with.

Reflections on 12 Months in the USA: The Highs and Lows as an Aussie Expat Living and Travelling Around the USA

12 month ago, we made the wild decision to move across the world to Texas, USA.

It’s been truly an adventure with many highs and lows. From the chaos of packing and moving, flight cancellations and learning to drive ignoring speed limits. To stunning landscapes, delicious food and sipping cocktails by a Mexican beach with friends.

There is nothing like moving away from your comfort zone to grow as a human.

To move away from familiarity, family, friends, career, home and society norms you understand.

To a similar yet vastly different country has been eye opening (to say the least)

Today, is a big essay. I’ll be sharing some highlights and challenges over the last 12 months of living and travelling based out of Texas, USA.
