A few months ago, I became acquainted with fellow small business owner Jovin Lim whose runs a modelmaking workshop in Perth. Through my time spent chatting and photographing Jovin and his team, I learned a bit more about model making for architects, builders and anyone who wants models designed and built from scratch. I also gained some valuable insights into the architecture and building industry which I really appreciated.

Back in November, I had the opportunity to photograph one of the baristas from Veneziano Coffee Roasters who was participating in the brewing category of the regional coffee championships hosted by Australian Specialty Coffee Association. While I’m a coffee drinker and enjoy a variety of coffees from espresso coffee to cold brew and pour overs, specialty coffee competitions was a whole new world to me. I learned quite a bit about the coffee competition in my few hours of hanging out to watch and photograph the event.

Wedding photography was never really an interest of mine. I’ve tried it (as a second shooter) twice so far. Since my visit to Sydney, where I had such a great time shooting some street photography with the Fuji X Aus Sydney crew, it was a theme I was eager try in Perth.

I’m so used to using interchangeable lens cameras coming from the Canon DSLR system followed by the Fujifilm X series cameras. I like the option of having a variety of high quality lenses to choose from depending on the kind of photography I’m doing. Over the last 4 years, I’ve built up a nice little kit of Fujifilm x mount lenses. However I’ve noticed since I’ve purchased the 23mm f2 lens, it’s been the lens that seldom leaves my XT10 when I’m looking for a general purpose lens.
