In my view Fujifilm has dominated the instant film camera market. It’s great to see Polaroid making their own push into the market to drive up competition and innovation. I have always been fond of the idea of instant film but until recently have not owned an instant camera of my own. There is something alluring about instant film. For a digital photographer like myself, taking photos then bringing it into a whole workflow process that involves post-processing software such as Lightroom and then sharing onto platforms like your own blog, instagram or facebook, can sometimes feel like a lot of work. Shooting on a camera that produces instant film and have relatively have few controls to slow you down, you get to focus on light and composition when taking photos.

Blurb is a online publishing platform that allows anyone to create, self-publish, share and sell their own prints, wall art, books and ebooks. It’s been a long time since I made a photo book. The last book I made was over a decade ago using Photobook Australia. It was a small square softcover book that I put together after my first trip to Melbourne with friends. Since then I’ve been meaning to make another photobook but haven’t found the time, motivation or the right story to tell. Lightroom has had the book module that integrates with Blurb Books for a long time and it’s always been on the back of my mind to try it out.

The Fujifilm X100F was release back in 2017 and the X100V replacement was announced earlier this year. As I mentioned in my previous blog post on my initial impressions of the X100F, I was curious to try out the X100F to see what the fuss was all about (spoiler alert, it’s a fantastic little camera and I loved using the little thing). The X100 series is Fujifilm’s first foray into the mirrorless market and is one of it’s most iconic cameras. This blog post wraps up my experience of using the X100F for a month. During this time I took it on a trip to Melbourne, photographed Open House Perth 2019, used it as my primary camera on the last Fuji X Aus Perth photowalk for 2019 and shot some behind the scenes candid photos and videos for my brother’s wedding.

The best products are always the ones that try to solve a problem. Wandrd is founded by a band of brothers who couldn’t find the “perfect camera bag” for their travels and decided to make one themselves. Wandrd started with wanting to make the best travel camera bag in the world. Now they have expanded beyond the camera bag into a variety of related products. Their simple and bold mission is to create products that inspire people to get out to explore, create and live in the moment. It’s a mission that I can definitely resonate with and feel that come through in their products.
While I wish there was the “perfect” camera bag that would meet all my needs, I know the reality is you may need more than one camera bag to ensure you have the right bag for the right purpose/job. I have been following Wandrd for the last few of years and always had my eye on their PRVKE bag. I know so many people who rave about the PRVKE and they do seem like fantastic bags. There was just something about it that didn’t fit the bill for me. When Wandrd launched the DUO kickstarter campaign last year, that was the bag that caught my eye. I eagerly waited for the bag to go into production, be shipped and be reviewed.
[Read more…]My initial impressions of the Fujifilm X100F
I’m so used to using interchangeable lens cameras coming from the Canon DSLR system followed by the Fujifilm X series cameras. I like the option of having a variety of high quality lenses to choose from depending on the kind of photography I’m doing. Over the last 4 years, I’ve built up a nice little kit of Fujifilm x mount lenses. However I’ve noticed since I’ve purchased the 23mm f2 lens, it’s been the lens that seldom leaves my XT10 when I’m looking for a general purpose lens.
